If we’re a great fit to partner together and you’re ready to move forward, we’ll seal the deal with a custom proposal and timeline for our collaboration.
Next, we’ll hop on a call to discuss the overarching goals for the site, technical and functional requirements, and app and theme selection. I can also help retrieve store information from your client such as shipping policies and legal policies to minimize the back-and-forth in your inbox. This step helps ensure all the nitty gritty backend stuff is in place, so we can hit the ground running when it’s time to start development!
After the collaborative pre-development process, I’ll dive into developing your designs, complete with custom coded sections your client can easily manipulate moving forward. Then we’ll undergo a robust revision process to ensure every detail is just right—I won’t stop until it’s perfect!
Time to make sure your site is pixel perfect across all browsers and devices! In this phase, I take thorough quality assurance measures to ensure a smooth launch and user experience, including cross browser testing, domain transfer, and more.
Now, we launch and celebrate! I create in-depth training videos to make sure your client feels confident customizing their site on their own moving forward, plus 2 weeks of support post launch for any hiccups that may arise.
You must have professional branding and product/lifestyle photography. Branding is so important because it is a key part of our strategic decision making process. Photography helps with telling the story of your brand—your website is only as good as your photography! I will not move forward until these two pieces are done. If needed, I am more than happy to hook you up with some fantastic professionals who can help you with these steps of the process before we dive in.

In order to ensure a smoother and faster development process, I always recommend starting with a theme when using Shopify, even if your client is looking for a completely customized experience. If your client wants, we can discuss which theme would be best for their business based on their functionality requirements. That being said, I strongly encourage you to flex your creative muscle and create custom designs using this theme as a baseline. I will go in and make custom coded blocks and together we’ll create something one-of-a-kind!
Once the project start date is approaching, I will invite you to our shared Notion dashboard, where you will find step-by-step lists of exactly what I will need from you before we get started. This includes your wireframes, images, copywriting, legal information, passwords, etc. You will also be able to ask me any questions in this dashboard and track web development progress as it’s happening.
This is completely up to you! I personally prefer to have some communication with the client and even like to join project kickoff calls, as it gives me a more well rounded understanding of the brand and the project goals. It also helps cut out the middle woman (aka you) if I ever have questions about the store-specific settings. However, if you would rather I communicate solely through you, that is a-okay as well.
